Research Interests
Over the course of our lifetime we accumulate an incomprehensible amount of memories and knowledge. In spite of the vastness of memory, we are pretty good at finding relevant information in memory when it is needed. I am interested in understanding when and how we  update existing memories with new information. For example, if a friend weds and changes their surname, how do we integrate their new name with the existing information about that person? My research on memory updating
has included examining how previous experience influences more recent, conflicting memories, as well as how encoding during testing both helps and harms memory performance. I address the question using a combination of experimental, statistical, and computational techniques.

Specific Topics of interest
Testing effects in memory, memory for associations, computational modeling of memory, Bayesian statistical and cognitive modeling, cued recall, lexical/semantic influences on memorability, experimental and statistical methodology
