ut clean energy but were afraid to ask. We have curriculum, assorted green and green job links (left), an award-winning blog (scroll down), a list of clean energy companies in the Valley, training programs and all the latest clean energy and green jobs reports. Our goal is to get this page seen and used by as many students, educators and job seekers as possible. If you have any hints, suggestions or thoughts, please email site administrator Mike Nemeth at ekimnemeth@yahoo.com. Or better yet, send this site as a link to a friend or colleague. We also have reserved the www.wiasjvceo.com link. Here's more about the project through which this was created: http://www.valleylegacy.com/.

Get clean energy into classrooms
The SJVCEO is working with educators across the Valley to help get a handle on a fast expanding industry that is expected to provide as many as 100,000 jobs in the San Joaquin Valley in the next decade. This site offers sample curriculum on every facet of clean energy. We invite educators to check out the material we've collected (see the curriculum and jobs/energy reports page) to create lesson plans. We also encourage educators to share their lesson plans to help others. It is our intent to energize the Valley.

How to tap into green jobs
This site offers a number of tools, links and research material to give job seekers an idea of what the emerging industry can offer. We have included clean energy trends studies, jobs forecasts and links to a number of organizations that track the industry. The information is targeted to energy efficiency and clean energy. We want this to be interactive. So if you want more information or would like to share your story or opportunity, drop us a line at mnemeth@pesc.com.

Who we are
The San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to improving quality of life by increasing production and use of clean and alternative energy, has created this web site to serve as a tool for educators and job seekers. The site provides job links, research materials and a wealth of resources to supplement and inspire curriculum for high school and community college courses. This work was made possible by a federal Workforce Investment Act grant. The work is being done through the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley - Valley Legacy Grant. We've wrapped up the grant but continue to plug material into the site to keep it fresh.

SJVCEO works to green California
The SJVCEO works with cities and counties and public and private organizations to demonstrate the benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy throughout the eight-county region of the San Joaquin Valley. Our mission is to foster growth in an industry that offers economic and ecological benefits.

Corporations go green
Corporations increasingly are pursuing sustainability policies. Walmart is the biggest example. Owners of buildings large and small find savings of up to 50 percent on utility bills after implementing simple lighting retrofits. Savings increase with more intensive retrofits of cool roofs, windows, insulation and heating and air conditioning systems.

Harnessing Mother Nature
Solar installations have become more common as interest increases in harvesting the Valley's most abundant natural resource. In the more windy regions around Tehachapi, companies have set their sights on installation of turbines to provide needed kilowatts.

Energy efficiency pays
California regulators embraced energy efficiency nearly four decades ago to curb the need for new power plants. And it worked. While other states saw per capita consumption increase over the years, California's remained relatively flat. California's policy of decreasing electricity demand by increasing energy efficiency meant it was able to meet new generation needs first with renewable and distributed generation resources, and second with clean fossil-fueled generation. This "loading order" was adopted in the 2003 Energy Action Plan prepared by the state's energy agencies. The California Energy Commission’s 2003 Integrated Energy Policy Report used the loading order as the foundation for its recommended energy policies and decisions.
