Ms. Browning's Classroom
Learning another language is a great way to experience different cultures, make new friends, and -- of course -- enjoy a trip to another country. But did you know that it can even improve your cognitive abilities? Studies have shown that people who speak another language are better problem solvers, have higher critical thinking skills, and score better on their college entrance exams. Many universities require upcoming freshmen to have at least two years of study in another language, but being bilingual is also valuable to those joining the military or international organizations like the Peace Corps. Once in the workforce, people who speak a second language make more money than monolinguals.
Learning another language can be a challenge, but it can also be fun. I hope that you enjoy this year! Please feel free to talk to me in class or e-mail me whenever you need help or have questions.
