Who Needs a Change? We Do!

Who Needs a Change? of the High Country
is a diaper bank that supplies diapers to local families in need. We believe all children deserve equal care and basic necessities. Our goal is to eliminate the diaper need in our community and help improve children's lives continually through community support.
"Who needs a change? Children living in poverty need a change."

"Be the change you want to see in this world."

Why we do what we do:

The cost of diapers can be a significant strain on the monthly budget for families struggling to pay the rent and put food on the table. An adequate supply of diapers can cost over $150 per month. In poor and low-income families, a baby can spend a day or longer in one diaper, leading to potential health and abuse risks. Wearing a soiled diaper for a long period of time can cause a diaper rash. Babies who experience severe diaper rashes often cry more. Excessive crying coupled with the stress of living in need can lead to child abuse. Safety-net programs such as the Food Stamp Program and WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) do not cover the cost of diapers. Low-income parents cannot take advantage of subsidized childcare if they cannot afford to leave disposable diapers at childcare centers. If parents cannot access daycare, then they are less able to attend work or school on a consistent basis and this is a concern in our community.
