This is a record of a visit made by Deric and Anita John to the White Horse Tavern, Manhattan, New York City on Thursday, 4th of November, 2010. In order to put the visit into context, we have included some photos of Dylan Thomas's associations with New York in the section titled Dylan Thomas in New York.

Photographs of our visit to the White Horse Tavern appear under Location, Bar and Dylan Thomas Room. The Links are to various relevant articles on Dylan Thomas in the USA and to some of his works.

We chose to visit the tavern because of its connections with Dylan Thomas. It was his favourite watering hole in Manhattan, and was immortalised as the place where he had allegedly drunk 'eighteen straight whiskies', prior to his untimely death in the nearby St. Vincent's Hospital in Nov. 1953.
