About Us

Whitehart is our small hobby kennel located in central Virginia where we raise and show Norwich Terriers .Our interest in  terriers began in the early 80's with an invitation from a friend to attend a Kennel Club Of Buffalo ( New York) monthly meeting .The program that evening happened to be a film presentation titled "Meet The West Highland White Terrier" and before long we were immersed in everything Westie! We soon joined Kennel Club of Buffalo and Southtowns Working Dog Club where we attended weekly obedience classes with Angus, our then six month old Westie. Angus sailed through basic obedience, graduating first in his class.

Angus was a wonderful pet and devoted companion to our children .He lived a full life and crossed the Rainbow Bridge at age nineteen.

In 1982 we acquired our first show prospect puppy. This Westie, we named Rob Righ’s Miss Behaving”Missy”. She was bred by Patricia Robbins of Exton Pennsylvania.

Soon we were immersed in grooming lessons and conformation classes. Weekends we attended matches and dog shows. After years of showing Westies we couldn't help falling in love with those plucky little Norwich Terriers. In 1994 we acquired our first Norwich Terrier, Sho-Me-Ketka's Peacekeeper from the Ketka Kennels in Michigan.

Over the years our Westie and Norwich Terriers  have earned over thirty AKC championship titles and most were of our breeding.

In  2002 we retired to Amherst Virginia which  is located in central Virginia , nestled along the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains ,45 minutes south of Charlottesville,  3 hours south of Washington, DC, and 2 hours west of Richmond.
