American Whiskey: Jack Daniels

Generally, when people think of bourbon, Jack Daniels tends to comes to mind.  However, JD is not bourbon but a Tennessee whiskey.  The difference is that the liquor goes through a charcoal filtering process before being placed in barrels.

  • ABV: 40%
  • Nose: We got bitter orange peel, corn, and the sweetness of honey and granny smith apples
  • Palate: It took some work to get a profile from the taste and we found if you held the whiskey on your tongue in your mouth you eventually got some peppery hotness and watered down Bartlett pear.
  • Finish: There is no noticable finish as the alcohol evaporate in your mouth
