The Bella Vista Women's Golf Club's Fall Brunch was held October 26th commemorating the completion of 40 years of Women's Golf in Bella Vista.  WGC President Sue Jacobson presided.  The Social committee, led by Stephanie Kappel and Kathy Dinwoodie, planned a spectacular morning with great food and a theme of "Thankful and Blessed". Rythm and Q provided the food.  The success of our 2017 season is the result of the contributions of so many people. It starts with our members serving as executive officers, committee chairs and volunteers. We are supported in all that we do by our extraordinary Golf professionals and the personnel in the Golf Office.

Sue Jacobson, Steve Morrow, Biddy Pyle
We welcomed our sponsors, Allens represented by Steve Morrow, Lakepoint represented by Tommy Lee, Concordia Nursing and Rehab, and Acura of Fayetteville represented by Michael Sandlin.  Our sponsors provided support in many ways including gift certificates, prizes for Closest to the Pin, Hall of Fame winners and support for the general fund.  We are thankful for the support of Women's Golf and happily support their businesses.

Sue introduced other guests from the Bella Vista Golf Division.  Phillip Wright and Darryl Muldoon represented Golf Operations.  Our PGA Professionals, Gavin Smith, Alex Sanford and Chuck Ritter help our group no matter which course we are playing on.  Leslie Terry, Retail Manager, stocks our Pro Shops with items we love and the Golf Maintenance crews led by Keith Ihms create a golfing experience that constantly exceeds our expectations.

WGC Donations to BV Animal Shelter, BV Courtesy Van, Village House
This year, the group chose the Bella Vista Animal Shelter, the Bella Vista Courtesy Van and the Village House as our charities.  Donations are raised through the weekly Closest to the Pin contest and the sale of WGC logo'd merchandise.  This year $550 was donated to each charity.

In our 40th year, our club numbered 129 playing members and 4 social members for a total of 133. Of those, 9 were new members. This was a challenging year with the impact of a major flood resulting in limited use of Berkdale and short-term closure of Country Club. Welcome renovations at the Highlands and not so welcome hot weather in July added to scheduling challenges.  Members remained flexible as schedules and locations changed right up until the day of play.  Everyone made it, we teed off and had a great year of golf and friendship.

2017 Hole in One Winners
End of the year awards included those for Hole-in-One, Most Improved Golfers and 2 new Hall of Fame Inductees.  Nan Delany and Jan Holm recognized seven deserving women for shooting a Hole in One this year.  They are Sandy Collins, Mary Riorden, Eva White, Elaine Twyman, Sheryl Pankratz, Roxianne Dwyer, and Judy Lemoine. Most Improved Golfers by Percentage and Strokes were presented by Biddy Pyle. Ronnie Nelson improved her handicap by 22% and Patty Walker improved by 5.5 strokes.

In celebration of our 40th year, Nancy Gross presented a plaque honoring our founding members.
The founding members are Bea Lester-President, Doye Bull-Vice President, Jackie Shoffner-Secretary, Wanda Collins-Treasurer, and Dolores Bowlin- NWA Rep.  Dolores still plays with the group every week.
Sandy Trigg inducted Pat Davis and Arlene Alford into the WGC Hall of Fame.

Highlights of the year included:
The Rules Committee sponsored the "Rules as Tools" workshop.  Darryl Muldoon and Stevie Lamar helped the group have a better understanding of the Rules of Golf, and how, at times, you can use them to your advantage.

2 woman partner Match Play event.  48 players signed up to play in the event and the players loved the new format and the friendly competition.  Match Play Madness Champions were Linda Roberts and Wanda Barton, 2nd place went to Judy Hudson and Myrlene Zimmerman and the Consolation Bracket Winners were Wanda Barloon and Robyn Wolters

The Firecracker Scramble, held at the end of June, had a field of 46 2 person teams in 7 flights! From the cart parade to the closing prayer of the program, we enjoyed celebrating our country's birthday with our golf friends. September rolled in with the Bella Vista Invitational “Fall Fling!”.  The Board provided an amazing array of goodies for the breakfast and we welcomed several guests from outside Bella Vista.

The Club Championship was played the week after the “Fall Fling” and the weather continued to be absolutely beautiful as were the courses. This year we played at Dogwood and Country Club.  Our 6 club champions are:
Low Gross from the Red Tees - Brenda Dandy, Low Gross from the Gold Tees - Jan Simm,  Low Net - Lisa Vines, Senior Low Net - Jan Holm Senior Low Gross from the Gold Tees - Pat Slatton, Senior Low Gross from the Red Tees - Mary Riorden.

The MGA/WGC Scramble started off the fun in October. The scramble had been postponed due to the spring flooding in May. 132 players joined in the fun.  It was a birdie fest with many scores in the 60's.

The brunch concluded with the 2017 Fall General Meeting.  During the meeting, Biddy Pyle was elected
2018 Executive Officers
President for 2018.  2018 Executive Officers are Ellen Shelley-Vice President, Elaine Twyman-Secretary and Jan Holm-Treasurer.  Biddy requested that 2018 Membership Applications be returned by February.  Members return the 2017 Questionnaires which helps guide the planning for next year. The group recognized Sue Jacobson for her leadership this year.  The meeting was adjourned.

Bella Vista Women's Golf Club membership is open to all ladies who are 18 years of age or older. The Women's Golf Club welcomes new members at any time of the year and will assign "Big Sisters" to assist and guide their "Little Sisters".  More information can be found on our website at: www.bvwgc.com
