Play from Red and Gold Tees

posted Jan 29, 2017, 1:03 PM by Sue Jacobson   [ updated Jan 29, 2017, 1:04 PM ]
In January, a couple of emails were sent to 2016 members.  Below is the content of those emails which defines play from the red and the gold tees for the 2017 season.

The WGC board met on Monday, January 9th. For the 2017 golf season, it was voted to have red tee and gold tee players compete in separate flights on low gross and low net play days.

On the other play days, all players will be paired and flighted according to handicap as was done last year.

And then further clarification was provided by President Sue Jacobson as questions arose ...

It has been brought to my attention that there is some confusion regarding play from the red and gold tees.  The Board voted on ONLY two items with regard to play from the red and gold tees.  The first change is the one which was shared in the email sent two nights ago.  That specific change is that red tee and gold tee players will compete in separate flights on Low Gross and Low Net play days.

The second change had to do with scrambles.  Specifically, the Board voted to change the wording in one sentence on the "Play It Forward" description on page 9 of the 2016 Handbook.  Last year, the sentence read ... "PIF tee boxes will not be used in scramble games."  This coming year, that sentence will read ... "Gold tee boxes will not be used in 4 person scramble games."  This allows for Gold tees to be used in 2 person scramble games as the Special Tournaments committee sees fit to use them.

NO other rules regarding play from red or gold tees were voted upon.  Thus far there are NO other changes to rules governing play from red or gold tees.  There appears to be rumors spreading that members will have to choose and stay on one or the other tee box this year.  This has never been a rule governing WGC play.

If you have any questions regarding WGC play, PLEASE contact either President Sue Jacobson (479-899-1213) or Vice President Biddy Pyle (479-531-1290).  We are HAPPY to talk to you about the WGC and answer your questions.  If we do not answer our phones, PLEASE leave a message.  Cell phones are wonderful but mine doesn't always ring!?!

As the last paragraph says, please be sure to contact either President Sue Jacobson or Vice President Biddy Pyle if you have any questions!  Looking forward to an outstanding 2017 golf season with friends!!!
