The non-profit Wetaskiwin Jazz Society is actively seeking sponsors and donors to help us facilitate two unique and exciting community initiatives:
Throughout the first six years of operation the WJS has presented over 70 workshops and performances in Central Alberta elementary, junior high and senior high schools. These events are an inspiring interactive time for students of all ages to learn about music, jazz traditions and to meet world-class musicians, who are faculty members from the Wetaskiwin Jazz Camp, without leaving their school building.
Through the help of sponsorship, many of these events have been given at a reduced rate, or at no cost to the school itself. The WJS is fully aware of the decreasing educational budgets each year in Alberta and we are striving to build community partnerships in order to keep the music playing.
Wetaskiwin Jazz Camp
Over the first six years, the WJC has seen exponential growth both in numbers and in skill level. This week-long Camp brings over twenty students from all over Alberta to learn from some of Canada's finest jazz musicians. Each week is capped off with a concert, which is free to the public, where all of the students and faculty perform.
The WJC has been a resounding success and we look forward to many more years to come!
Become a Sponsor, receive live Jazz!
With a donation in the 'Big Band' category, a group from the Wetaskiwin Jazz Society will provide live entertainment for an evening. This group of highly skilled musicians are adept at all styles of jazz and can provide anything from dancing music to dinner music to a set of lively original music.
