Help needed for Pia's Classic
Pia's Classic is Sunday, January 28th. This race is part of the AMH Anchorage Cup Series and is held in honor of Pia-Margarethe Denkewalter, a former West skier that passed away at the age of 15 in a climbing accident. The West Ski Team provides volunteers at the aid station for this race. We need 4 skiers that can help out from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM on Sunday. To sign up, please send an email to Nancy Martin at and include your cell number.

Skhoop Skirts for Sale!
Orange Skhoop mini down skirts will be available to buy at the race this weekend for $75 each (retail is $140!!). We have a limited number of skirts and sizes so don't delay--get yours now! This is a great way to stay warm in West colors and support the team! They'll be available at the team tent during the race. Cash, check, or credit card.
Hoodies will also be available!
Themed Parties to be Auctioned Off!
Ski team parents volunteer to host a party at their home, and hosts predetermine the date, number of attendees and amount of donation to attend per person. It can be fancy and limited attendance or it can be open and wild! Brunch, dinner, cocktails, whatever makes you tick. During a break at the ski banquet, the sign up sheets will open only until the parties are full. It only takes about five minutes and generates a healthy amount of funds for our skiers. It's an opportunity to get together with some other friends or family and have a fun night or day out.

So far tentative themed parties in the works include:
- a Cinco de Mayo party by the Comptons and Gellerts
- a wine and cheese party by the Wilkas Jones and Colberg Families
- a taco feed at the Carnahan casa

So, start talking with your friends about going together to a party and get motivated to be there early and sign up! Help us build a feeling of camaraderie and social connection among ski team families. If you are interested in hosting a party to be auctioned off at the end of the year banquet, please contact Jen Gordon at 907-240-0206 or
