About Westside Beagles

Located near Cincinnati in West Harrison, Indiana, we are a small kennel devoted to quality AKC beagles. We breed our beagles for what we like: good health, great looks, friendly personalities, and outstanding hunting ability. Our beagles make wonderful dual purpose dogs, so whether you are looking for a hunting companion, family pet, or both, you have come to the right spot!

About Our Beagles

Raising beagles right is very important to us. We start out by socializing our beagle puppies from an early age, making sure to provide a wide variety of enrichment and developmental experiences as they are growing, and by keeping our litters together until the puppies are at least 8 weeks of age, which is important for ensuring that they learn appropriate behavioral and social skills.

We breed for beagles under 13" and our dogs typically weigh less than 25 pounds. Our goal is to produce dogs that grow up to have nice, solid conformation and good square heads. Our beagles usually produce traditional tri-color pups, but from time to time, we may occasionally have tan & white or lemon & white pups available. When it comes to hunting style, our puppies typically grow-up into hard hunting, medium speed, bawl mouth or squall mouth hounds who can really work their way into a brush pile or thicket!

At Ohmer's Westside Beagles, we put a lot of time and effort into being a knowledgeable, responsible, and caring breeder. We typically breed no more than 1-2 litters a year and our bitches are bred no more than 3-4 times in their lifetime. All of our dogs come with a certificate of health and are guaranteed to be free of serious genetic diseases.  Having personally been through the heartache of losing a wonderful house pet and hunting companion due to uncontrollable epileptic seizures, we have made tough breeding choices to help ensure that no one who purchases a puppy from us will have go through the same experience that we did.  To back this up, we also offer a guarantee against epilepsy. 

All prospective owners will be screened to ensure they will provide our beagles with good homes and proper care. Please plan to ask and be asked a lot of questions when you look into getting a beagle from us. We encourage you to do your research and take the time to look around on our site before making the decision to purchase or adopt a beagle. You will want to make sure that you are knowledgeable and well-informed about beagles, their breed characteristics, and their specific needs before getting one. Beagles may be cute and friendly, but they aren't for everyone!  After all, not everyone learns to love a beagle's loud, ringing voice or stubborn one-track mind where food is involved.
