About WUMC

About Our Church

We hope you find WUMC a place of sanctuary, beauty and peace. Here, God's Word is taught and demonstrated in positive ways; here, creative thinking, meditation, laughter and loving acts are encouraged; here, the lives of children, youth and adults are nurtured and focused, so that as faith and life come together, each will serve God and humanity through their prayers, their presence, their gifts, and their service.
Statement of Beliefs

We are a progressive and moderate, diverse and inclusive United Methodist congregation. We believe the church belongs to God and that the church is, in the words of the Apostle Paul, the body of Christ. The church is to be the physical presence of Christ in the world. As such, our primary aim is to do God’s will. We believe we are called by God to be in mission to our community and the world.

Church History

Westminster United Methodist Church (WUMC) was founded in 1954, having originally started as a Bible Study in the Westminster Grange in 1953. Our large building presently houses three congregations with four languages: our English-speaking United Methodist congregation, our Spanish and Hebrew speaking Nacion Grande Messianic Jewish congregation, and the Hmong-language Hmong Mennonite Church.
