There are over 17 committees for members to participate in!
Awards: Prepares applications for awards offered by the Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc. and the National Garden Club, Inc. in recognition of programs and projects undertaken by the club.
Civic: Works to help beautify the community through planting and promoting the benefits of horticulture. Plant summer annuals at the Village Planters and Blue Star Memorial Garden, maintain the perennial gardens in Spring Rock Park and Let Freedom Ring Garden, coordinate the village spring cleanup day, and provide tree seedlings for area schools on Arbor Day.
Commnuication: Communicates club announcements to members via email.
Conservation: Encourages conservation, supports national conservation groups, supports GCI, Inc. conservation projects, and directs Club conservation projects.
Courtesy: Sends cards or flowers when appropriate to ill or bereaved members, and acknowledges special accomplishments of club members.
Floral Re-Creation: Design floral arrangements from donated funeral flowers taking them to area nursing homes and senior centers.
Garden Therapy: Provides garden related crafts/activities for persons at a local area nursing home.
Historian: Maintains the Archives of the Club.
Horticulture: Provides information of interest on flowers, trees, shrubs etc.
Library: Decorates the library at Christmastime and provides flowers for special occasions. During the growing months, flower arrangements are made from members’ gardens.
Membership: Hosts at general meetings, greets and invites prospective members, welcomes guests.
Programs: Arranges all programs and speakers for general meetings.
Publicity: Directs publicity for all meetings, the Annual Plant Sale and any other Club sponsored activities.
Social: Provides hostesses for monthly meetings, annual luncheon and the member garden walk.
Special Events: Coordinates outings and activities outside of the monthly meetings such as garden tours, classes and demonstrations, garden related crafts and other social and community activities.
Ways and Means: Directs and coordinates our plant sale, plant ordering, and plant digging.
Yearbook: Plans and organizes the printing of the annual yearbook.
