The Whistle Stop Trail is in Franlin County and Extends From Jay to Farmington.  The trail is 14 miles in length.  It consists of a railroad bed with crushed stone, dirt and sand surfaces.  Trail activites include ATV riding, horseback riding, moutain biking, snomobiling, walking and cross country skiing.  This trail offers many great and unique features. There is a beaver dam and home right next to the trail about 1 ½ miles down the trail on the West Farmington end of the trail. Also located just behind Franklin Memorial Hospital there is the Fit Stop that provides people with stretching information, and other events happening in the community. As well there is a small structure called a “Yurt” that is just behind the Fit Stop that people are encouraged to stop and check out. Further down the trail you have a picnic areas located just before the Wilton trestle at Your Hometown Market. Just after the trestle there are three new half mile test surfaces that are being tested for future restoration to the entire trail.
