Welcome to Westcreek Wahoo Swim Team! 2019 Information & Updates  Welcome to the Westcreek Wahoos Swim Team NEW SWIMMERS - Tryouts - Saturday, May 4th 2019 8:00-9:30 AM at Sports Park Pool OR Saturday, May 11th 2019 8:00-9:30 AM at Sports Park Pool Please bring your child/children in a one-piece swimsuit or swim trunks for boys, with goggles, and towel. To make the team, each swimmer MUST be able to swim the length of the pool 100% on their own in some sort of freestyle stroke. Remember this is not swimming lessons, this is a swim team. There will be swimmer improvements of strokes, through the season, but your child must have some knowledge of water and putting their face in the water. ü This is a parent-run, non-profit organization. Upon registering your child, you as the parent, agree that someone from your oclevolunteer this swim season. Families of one swimmer agree to sign up for a minimum of 3 sessions during the season as well as one session at the DIVISIONALS, families of multiple children agree to sign up for 4 or more sessions as well as one session at the DIVISIONALS. Please speak directly to the Volunteer Coordinator if you cannot meet these volunteer hours. ü Past Swimmers do NOT have to re-tryout, tryouts are for new swimmers only. We suggest you bring your new swimmer to tryouts in his/her swimsuit, hair tied back, with goggles and a towel. ü Please keep in mind that this is swim team not swim lessons, it is important that every child have some knowledge of strokes and can swim safely across the pool without assistance of any kind. The coaches will work through the season to improve your child’s knowledge of swim, but he/she must be safe before making the team. ü The season will run from the last two weeks of school [with after-school practice] through the second week in July. We will hopefully have 3-4 swim meets, at this time, they will not be held at our own pool. (This may change by the beginning of the season) ü Through the season, girls are to wear only one-piece swimsuits and all long hair must be tied back in a ponytail. ü This year we are excited to welcome Head Coach of the Brennan Swim Team, Coach Chris Olvera ü The swim team is opened to VWOA homeowners who must be up-to-date on assessments, as well as, non VWOA Homeowners. Non-VWOA homeowners will have to pay with cash or credit, as the HOA does not accept checks from non-HOA members. Fees are as follows:

Here are important dates to know: New Swimmer Tryouts - {Past swimmers are already on the team and do not need to tryout} Saturday, May 6th & May 13th from 8-9:30 AM - This is opened to any swimmer, between the ages of 6 and 18 who can successfully swim across the pool without any assistance. Ages 10 and under must be able to swim safely across the width to join the team and any child age 11 and older must be able to swim the full length of the pool. New & Past Swimmer Registration Event- New swimmers who have passed their tryouts and all past swimmers, must register at our registration event on Saturday, May 13th from 9am-11am at the Westcreek Homeowners Club House. Registration officially closes on Saturday, May 20th. Stay tuned for 2017 Summer Swim Team Information Swimathon - July 7th - Middle & high school will go together from 7:30-8:30 and Elementary from 8:30-9:30. Swimmers will swim as many laps as they can for 20 minutes. Swimmers can ask for a flat fee or per lap fee. Girls must be in a one-piece for all practices and meets and any child with long hair must have it tied back or in a cap. 1st Pep Rally of the season - Monday, June 6th from 8:45-9:30 am at the Sports Park - Let's get ready for our first meet... team mentors will meet your mentees and go over your responsibilities... we will be making signs to bring with us to the meet, and we will be selling concessions for $1.00 each (Donuts, drinks, and snacks, so bring your cash) Other useful information – Swim Team Board Meeting - June 1st at 6pm - this is opened to all parents. We would love to see as many of you as possible.
