Please join me in congratulating all the girls that represented WAMC at GiM on February 22.
Girls in Math at Yale is a math team competition open to students from underrepresented genders, including women and non-binary people, and those who are otherwise marginalized. This year the organizers added a guts round, an additional team round, where the team solves problems in themed sets of 3.
We had 2 teams (12 competitors) representing WAMC and both teams placed among the top 10 teams!
Team results:
Guts Round
#5 WAMC A team - Serena Ke, Abby Kesmodel, Olivia Laido, Sarah Mao, Annabelle Wu, Avery Xu (team captain)
#9 WAMC B team - Miriam Blumberg, Emily Cheng, Serena Diamond  (team captain), Erin Suk, Juno Yang, Ella Zhu
Team Round
#6 WAMC A
#9 WAMC B
Individual results:
#10 Annabelle Wu (Honorable Mention)
#11 Juno Yang (Honorable Mention)
#21 Abby Kesmodel
#25 Emily Cheng
Many thanks to our Advanced Workshop instructors: Ethan Shi, Henry Xue, and Jai Paradkar who prepared both of our teams for the competition.
Special thank you to the parent coordinators Li Yong, Nicole Diamond, and Aaron Diamond. WAMC wouldn't be able to organize so many team competitions without significant help from many involved parents and students.
