2012 - SurveyLA Discoveries: Intriguing Historic Resources In West Adams, Baldwin Hills & Leimert Park
In October 2012, the Department of City Planning Office of Historic Resources highlighted SurveyLA's findings for the West Adams-Baldwin Hills-Leimert New Community Plan:
"This article is the second in a series of features on some of the interesting “finds” from SurveyLA. The West Adams community has long been recognized as one of Los Angeles’
most historic areas, with a high concentration of Historic Preservation Overlay Zones (HPOZs), or historic districts. While much of this area had been the subject of previous
surveys for the HPOZs, SurveyLA found numerous interesting individual resources and potential historic districts throughout the area."

A key focus of the Planning Department is to engage the community in new ways.
In 2011, the Department began publishing a new quarterly newsletter, appropriately named "pLAnning." In addition, the newsletter will discuss a plan, policy, program or ordinance under development, recently approved or currently being implemented.
