Welcome to the website for the West Adams Neighborhood Council (WANC)!

All stakeholders are invited and encouraged to attend the monthly general board meetings held the 3rd Monday of the month (4th Monday if the 3rd Monday is a holiday) at 2942 Vineyard Avenue.

Please note: As of July 1, WANC no longer has an office. All mail and notices should be forwarded to WEST ADAMS NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL, P.O. BOX 78474 (LOS ANGELES, CA 90016).

Our Purpose

The West Adams Neighborhood Council’s purpose is to participate as an advisory body on issues of concern to our neighborhood and to create more opportunities to build partnerships with government to address local needs and concerns in our community. The Council is formed to engage in all of the civic, cultural, public, and charitable purposes permitted to be conducted, or participated in, by a Neighborhood Council formed pursuant to Article IX of the Charter and Administrative Code of the City of Los Angeles.


Our Mission

  1. To empower and bring together a diverse community to maintain and improve our quality of life.
  2. To work, in cooperation with the necessary agencies, toward the protection and improvement of our area, effectively addressing the needs and concerns as identified by our community.
  3. To provide an inclusive, open forum for public discussion of issues concerning City governance, the needs of this neighborhood council, the delivery of City services to this neighborhood council, and on matters of a City-wide nature.
  4. To advise the City of Los Angeles on issues concerning City governance, the needs of this neighborhood council, the delivery of City services to this neighborhood council, and on matters of a City-wide nature.

  • Untitled Post WANC's Rules Committee has scheduled a meeting to review WANC's bylaws. The meeting will be held this Thursday at 3 pm at the Baldwin Hills Public Library.

  • Untitled Post WANC's Land Use Committee has scheduled a meeting to review several pending permits/applications with the City's Department of Planning. The meeting will be held this Thursday night at 6:30 pm at Rancho Cienega Sports Complex (Child Care Center Building).

  • Applications for Neighborhood Purpose Grants - Timeline for 2017/2018 The West Adams Neighborhood Council is pleased to announce the availability of funding for community improvement projects and neighborhood purpose grants to be undertaken within its boundaries.In implementing this process, WANC hopes to evaluate the merit of submitted proposals side-by-side and be able to support a strong mix of complementary and beneficial projects and programs. Partnerships and collaborations between community organizations are encouraged. Approximately $17,000 is available for distribution this fiscal year; most grants will be made in the $750-$2,500 range. Applicants requesting more than $4,999 will be rejected.Funding is intended to support neighborhood-based, direct service and social action initiatives taking place between February 1, 2018 and June 30, 2018.
