"We Need Your Light" was written out of my own frustrations with the way our world has begun to implode on itself due to overall greed and inconsideration for the hopeless and needy. From the devastation of 911 to the real-estate crisis, the world has reaped what was sown in "times of reckless abundance" and we are seeing some of the hardest time we've known. The song starts off as a cry out to God that we need His light. It ends as a proud declaration to the world that we need His light to shine on our world and renew our faith.

"Came Into My Life" is a song about struggling out of darkness. We all have our troubles but its a blessing to be able to hear the voice of God and respond in righteousness. It leads to freedom. I pray that this song will " bless your soul"  - Shawn Christopher

Poem:
"No one's Valentine (but yours)"

Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate love, and to demonstrate love. For an estimated 27 million people worldwide, the realities of slavery mar any conception of love.  So, as we celebrate love, and especially the power of God's love in Jesus, may this poem awaken us to the realities of slavery who dare not even hope in love, and inspire us to demonstrate the love of Jesus and the hope we have in his transforming power, in both word and action.

Congrats to my brother Dell Washington on writing such an awesome song to benefit a great cause! Super proud of you.

My daughter Veronica recently posted a status on FB and I quote, "There are so many doubtful hearts in the world. I hope to give hope to the hopeless today. Perhaps a smile will do it :)" Well this speaks to the constant aching in my heart. So many people have lost hope because life just seem so unfair. Well, trust me, I know this feeling too well. God breathed this song "Smile" in my spirit years ago and it always gives me hope. I would be honored to donate this song to your cause because I know it will be a source of encouragement to many.

Matt Lundgren is worship leader at Willow Creek in South Barrington, IL. Matt is part of Foster, a group of worship leaders who started the band as a response to a deep history of cultural and racial division in the present world and a lack of social action among people of faith. As it unifies people through music, Foster seeks to inspire people to be godly instruments of love and peace in a world of poverty, sickness and injustice.

The song “Love Justice” comes from Micah 6:8, and was written to give voice to Christians who want God to use them to bring His Kingdom here on earth.  The song itself is a blend of genres and styles, as it mixes gospel with rock and R&B to create a unique musical sound.  In a society that is often very self-focused, Foster hopes and prays that through this song, churches will be mobilized to cross boundaries of race, socio-economic status, and culture to live out their faith in a way that will make a difference in our world.

"Power of Your Name" was written as a response to the trips I have taken internationally with Operation Christmas Child Samaritan's Purse.  It's a prayer for the broken children and families around the world.  It's a cry for God to bring light to darkness, and heal the broken through the power of His great name.  -Kyle Dillard

"The truth is that life is often not easy. In fact it can be deeply painful. This is echoed in the words and songs we find in the Psalms. Living life as a Christ follower does not exclude us or protect us from the disappointments and injustices that can come our way as we journey on this earth. But I am constantly amazed at how God can redeem our brokenness and help us find the beauty in the ashes. Sometimes mountains are meant to be there, because that's where we develop and discover strength, endurance, hope and courage. Embracing your mountains makes you a mountain climber. And it is only the mountain climbers that earn the view that not many get to experience in life. They are the people who discover the beauty of rare wild flowers that are hidden to the rest of the world. God, give us the courage to be spiritual mountain climbers..."

Spoken Word Poetry:
"Violence"

Violence against women is unconscionable and must be eliminated. These acts of negligence, aggression, and disrespect break the heart of God and causes Heaven to weep at our transgressions. This poem flowed through my spirit and onto the computer as my small part in addressing this serious issue. We must celebrate and elevate our women for they are truly gifts from our Creator.

Brandon Grissom is a singer/songwriter from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Raised in the dusty backwoods of Oklahoma, he has spent the better part of the last decade in the windy city.  Brandon and band lead worship regularly at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, IL, as well as various conferences, churches, and events around the country.

"I really wanted to write a song that focuses us outward. So many songs in the church are about me and God, which is great. But we have a lot of those!  We need more songs in the church that inspire us to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world. This is my humble submission." - Brandon Grissom

Brandon’s latest record, Kingdom Come, debuted at #3 on iTunes.
