The Course

Covid 2020
The event will go ahead.
On-line booking only. No entries on the day. No exceptions.... even YOU, friend.

Race Briefing for competitors - emailed on 2/9/2020

Entries are closed. No entries on the day.
Max 30 entrants.
The start will be staggered over a 30 min period - one minute per person.

Chip timing - collect numbers/chips on the day. Opportunity to bath sterilize number/chip yourself. Bring your own pins.
No prize presentation but 1st male and female back take prize.
Pub will provide snack after in open/distanced setting if required.
Marshals will be on the hill on the checkpoints. You MUST check in at each marshal and give them your number.

No maps provided - bring your own. The obvious route between checkpoints on the map are mostly on paths of some sort, from large walking highways to smaller running tracks along defined sheep-trods, however competitors are free to run off-piste' to follow their perceived optimum route.

The 'goat track' descent before reaching checkpoint 2 is along a defined path - it is relatively steep.
Checkpoint 2 on the spur/knoll is slightly off the path that traverses under the escarpment.
There is a good path around the escarpment between Check 2 and Check 3.

Start/Finish: The race starts just north of Tafarn Y Garreg on the A4067 near Dan Yr Ogof show caves. The route includes 3 checkpoints which must be visited in the correct order, namely:

CP1 - Fan Brycheiniog trig point (GR SN 826218) - this may end up being he stone shelter just before if weather on top is inclement.
CP2 – Knoll/Spur near bottom of 'goat track' (GR SN 816220):
CP3 - North end of Llyn Y Fan Fawr (GR SN 830221)

All checkpoints will be manned/ marshalled and I hope to have a sweep runner. It is each competitor's responsibility to ensure that their race number is clearly visible and that the marshal has correctly recorded it - you will not appear in the results if you have not been recorded as visiting each checkpoint.
