Scarecrow Competition

We are planning to run a scarecrow competition (theme: Fictional Character) for

two weeks from 20th July, in aid of St. Michael’s Hospice.

The idea is for people resident in Wellington Heath to make a scarecrow (identity to be kept secret and named only to the organizer) and put on show in their garden/front of house/window so clearly visible from the road.

If you live outside the village but have local connections through the church/village clubs/relatives etc, you could find a host in the village for your scarecrow (or ask us to find one for you).

Once all the entries are in, a ‘Guess the Scarecrow’ question sheet will be on sale, along with a map trail.

Scarecrows can be made using any materials/format and should represent a fictional character (children’s or adults’ book/nursery rhyme/comic/tv/film etc – eg. Harry Potter or Mickey Mouse).

The term ‘scarecrow’ should be interpreted loosely; maybe ‘a representation’ would be a more accurate definition. They do not have to be made from straw, or even have two sticks!

Closing date for entries will be 28th June.
