This link will take you to the Duke Energy website for the most up-to-date outage information by county. Customers should call 800-343-3525 to report outages and get an estimated time of restoration.
As with any weather system that may impact our service area, our meteorologists are monitoring the weather conditions.
Current weather models indicate significant winter weather/ice/snow may occur over parts of the Duke Energy service area. Typically snow does not create conditions where we would expect to have widespread power outages. However, increased wind speeds, precipitation resulting in ice accumulations on tree limbs and power lines and deteriorating traffic conditions can impact our power delivery systems.
Duke Energy has a detailed storm response plan. We are prepared to respond when severe weather situations occur. Line technicians, service crews and other personnel are available throughout our service area and are ready to respond to outages and emergencies that may occur.
All available crews will work in the event of widespread outages. Depending on the extent of the damage in the Duke Energy service territory, it may be possible to send crews from nearby locations to assist in other areas. In the event we experience widespread outages, Duke Energy Carolina crews along with other utility and contract crews will be asked to assist with restoration. We have many options available to us for additional resources should they be needed.
As part of our ongoing preparation and monitoring, we are checking equipment, supplies and inventories to ensure we have adequate materials to make repairs and restore service to our customers should any outages occur.
Until severe weather impacts our service area and distribution systems, we cannot assess the damage or predict potential outages.
For information on how customers can prepare for severe weather or about our outage restoration process, please check Outage and Storm Information on our Web site: www.duke-energy.com.
The quickest way for customers to report power outages is by calling 1-800-343-3525. Outages reported on these lines are routed automatically to those responsible for responding to them.
We encourage customers to prepare for severe winter storms by checking their supply of flashlights, batteries, bottled water, non-perishable foods, medicines, etc. Also, ensure you have a portable, battery operated radio, TV or NOAA radio on hand.
Families who have special medical needs or elderly members should closely monitor weather forecasts and make plans now to consider potential alternate arrangements, if needed.
