Information Technology Manager, US Army, School of Advanced Military StudiesPERSONAL DATA: Jim was born May 5th, 1950 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He has been married to his lovely wife, Suzy, for over 35 years and they have two grown sons. Jim enjoys gardening at his country home outside Leavenworth.
EDUCATION: Graduated with honors from Leavenworth Senior High School in 1968; received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas and was commissioned an Air Force 2nd Lieutenant in 1972; earned a Master of Arts degree in Space Systems Management from Webster University in 1988.
EXPERIENCE: In the Air Force Missile and Space Operations career fields, Jim became a pioneer in the development, testing, and operational training of large, phased array space operations radar systems. In 1981, Major Webber earned the 15th Air Force, Space Operations Staff Officer of the Year Award for sustained superior performance and was selected to the initial cadre tasked to build Air Force Space Command from the ground up. Upon retirement from the Air Force in 1992, Jim worked as a data communications project manager with AT&T, Birch Telecom, and Ciena Corporation. In 2002, Jim returned to the military environment at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and has worked ever since as an Army information technologies manager.
WEBSTER INFLUENCE: Jim was in the initial cadre of students as this program of studies began in Colorado Springs in 1986. Courses such as Space Systems Project Management, Space Communications Systems, and Systems Integration have been instrumental in expanding his opportunities after the Air Force. Even in the very first days, Webster University’s flexible schedule was paramount to his successful graduation.
