Guidelines and points to consider

We use a free hosting system provided by Google which means there are no annual hosting fees to pay.

We offer three ways for site maintenance and upkeep:

1)  We can configure the site so that you are the sole owner able to make simple changes yourself. Our price allows for a half hour telephone tutorial on site maintenance and simple changes.

2)  If you wish we can configure the site to allow both you and us to make changes when required. We would always quote before proceeding with any instructions.

3)  Or we can look after the site completely.

We sort out the 'Domain Name' registration based upon the name of your service or product.

Points to consider

The Competition

Look at websites offering the same service as yourselves and send us a link to two which you feel best reflect what you trying to create.

Key Words

This is most important in getting your site to appear high in the search results. Use of keywords should be applied in the name of the site, contact email address, heading of each page and of course in the text itself. Make a list of all the words you would type into the search engine as if you were looking for the service you are intending to provide and try to incorporate them into the text of your site in a coherent and intelligent manner. For example if your sevice is providing gite accommodation then the name "Les Oiseaux Gîte Normandy" would be better than "Les Oiseaux Gîte".

Text

needs to be grammatically correct, concise and informative. Look at competitors sites and see which you are interested in reading and which you are bored with. Simple sentences are good. The golden rule is "Don't Waffle"

Photos

need to be as high a quality as possible. We will edit and enhance the photo as necessary, but if your photos have been taken on the modern day equivalent of a 'Kodak Brownie' they won't show up very well on the screen. Make your photos as interesting as possible.

Colours Lo

ok at other sites offering the same product and service as yourselves and observe which colour theme seems to work best for your particular service.

Links

to other sites are important especially "quality" links, i.e. an existing site which has a high number of 'hits'. If your service is providing Gîte accommodation then include links to local tourist offices, places of interest, restaurants etc. and where possible include a photo for that link.

French Translation

Don't confine your market to English language customers only. We offer a translation service for a reasonable fee. If you are not confident in answering an enquiry then ask a neighbour or a friend and offer a "bottle" for their services.

Remember

that we are available by telephone or e-mail should you need to make urgent alterations when your site is up and running. If we can make your site and our service as effective and efficient as possible then your success becomes our success through recommendation.
