  • 1" Binder (w/ tab dividers)
  • 1 Composition notebook
  • 1 Highlighter

Grading

Major Assessments (40% of MP grade) - This includes tests and projects.
Tests will be announced in advance and study guides will be provided. A class review of test material will take place the day before the test and will be repeated if missed. It is important that study guides be completed prior to the test review.

There will be 1-2 unit projects each marking period that will be announced at the beginning of the unit. Students will occasionally be given time to work on their projects in class, however, most will be completed outside of school.

Minor Assessments (30% of MP grade)- This includes quizzes, journals, major labs. Quizzes will be announced in advance, however, study guides will not always be provided.

Daily Assessments (30% of MP grade)- This includes classwork, homework, labs, and class participation. Students are expected to complete all classwork at the time it is assigned. Failure to do so will result in a loss of points as well as a deduction of class participation.

Homework is assigned on an as needed basis, and should take no more than 30 minutes to complete. I usually do not assign homework over the weekend; however, study guides may be assigned to allow for extra study time.

Late Homework- Homework is due at the beginning of class. Late homework will only be accepted by 3:30pm the next day and deducted by 20 points.

Students will begin the marking period with 100 points for class participation. Being late to class, not coming prepared with the above materials, and not following class expectations will result in a deduction of points that cannot be earned back. This grade will be updated weekly to reflect student progress.

Any form of cheating, no matter how minor, will not be tolerated! All students involved will receive an automatic zero with no opportunity to complete the assignment again.

Absent Work/ Late Work

It is the student’s responsibility to retrieve any assignments they have missed due to an absence. Students will be given one day for every day they are absent to make up their work. If an assignment is announced BEFORE you were absent, you will NOT be allowed extra time for the assignment. If the student is absent on the day of a test, they will be expected to make up the test after school on the day they return.

 Homework/ Classwork: 1 day late = -20 points,  After 1 day = 0
Major Assignments & Projects: -10 points each day late,  After 5 days = 0

**A zero will be put into Power School as a place holder for ALL missing work (including absent work) until it is handed in**

After School/ Before School Help

I am always available for help during homeroom and after school until 3:30. If a different time is needed, please see me in advance so that I can make arrangements. Telling me that there was trouble when an assignment is due will not be accepted.
