Winter Tea Julep

Winter Tea Julep from We are not Martha

  • 3 oz. bourbon
  • 1 1/2 oz. brown sugar syrup (recipe below)
  • 2 peppermint tea bags (or 2 t loose peppermint tea)

Brown Sugar Syrup:

  • 1/4 C brown sugar
  • 1/4 C water


1) Bring water and brown sugar to a boil in a heavy sauce pan over high heat. Once the mixture starts to boil, lower heat to a simmer and let cook for about 7 minutes. Remove syrup to separate container and let cool.
2) For the two drinks, bring 10 ounces of water to a boil and brew peppermint tea, using either two teabags or loose tea in infuser. Seep tea for about 4 minutes and remove teabags or infuser.
3) Pour 3/4 oz. of brown sugar simple syrup into each glass and 1 1/2 oz. bourbon in each.
4) Garnish glasses with fresh mint.
