The churches of St Mary, St Chad and St Germain occupy a place at the heart of the villages of Welton, Dunholme and Scothern, and have served the community faithfully for many generations. If you have an opportunity to visit any or all churches in person you will find a beautiful building, steeped in history and soaked in prayer.
But it is more than just a pretty building. As well as the stones which make up the building you see, the Church is made up of “Living Stones”, an inclusive community of people faithfully gathering to worship, and serving the community.
Worship is offered here every Sunday morning and we also have a Eucharist service at St Mary’s, Welton on Tuesdays (12.15pm), St Chad’s on Wednesday (12.15 pm). Please see the service sheet or the noticeboard in the porch for details of other services and events. The church also plays an important part in the life of this community, and we are privileged to be invited to share important moments with people as we celebrate with them the birth of a child in baptism, a marriage, or the sadness of the death of a loved one through holding the funeral here.
The Churches in this benefice believes in a God who says “yes”, welcoming anyone and everyone, just as they are, and reaching out in love to those around us. I hope that you will see some of what we are about in the pages of this website, and perhaps be inspired to come and give us a try one Sunday.
