in the Classroom

Past Conference in Brookline on 11/9/13

GT member Molly Faulkner attended this conference and encourages all interested teachers, staff persons, and parents to consider attending MAC’s upcoming conference in

Ludlow, MA, March 8, 2014.

HIGHLIGHTS OF November Conference

While most workshops concentrated on hands-on techniques for getting both vegetable and animal agriculture into the classroom, I found the following things especially important:

  • Learning about additional funding sources for our Wayland school gardens (e.g. summer rec program) and possibly a paid part-time garden coordinator; seeing how leveraging funds might be possible
  • Learned more about grant writing fundamentals
  • Meeting two women who work with DYS teenagers in locked residential programs on big garden programs – very successful and well loved.
