Waverly Peace Discernment Team

February 2013

Dear Friends,

In response to the 2012 Presbyterian Church USA recommendation for a
Church-wide discernment process on current matters of peace and violence, Waverly Presbyterian Church is calling for individuals to participate on its Peace Discernment Team.  Our Team will meet for 5 bi-weekly meetings.

Our first meeting will be on Monday, February 11.  We'll convene at 7:15 and finish by 9:15. We'll be meeting at the Vandivier home - 7616 Tuscarora Street.

Waverly's Peace Discernment Team is sponsored by the Waverly Mission Committee and our Session (Board).  Bill Vandivier will be facilitating the team's work.

The curriculum for the first group meeting includes two downloadable items.
Further study materials will be discussed at the first meeting.

If you need help printing these documents, you may ask our church administrator
Jen Seekings to print them for you.

The purposes of this team are, among others, to share and clarify our individual thoughts, feelings, and values around this topic, to enjoy our fellowship and enhance our relationship as members or friends of Waverly, and to prepare written testimonies, individually or as a group, to share with the Peace Discernment Steering Team. The Team will utilize the results in developing a new church-wide policy to be considered over the next three years and presented for ratification at the 2016 General Assembly.

Please respond to Bill Vandivier at 412-371-8854 or vandivier7616@comcast.net if you wish to participate.
