The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) has invited Waukesha County residents to be part of Milwaukee’s East Side Solar Group Buy program.
midwestrenew.org

MREA hosted a Solar "Group Buy" information session at the Delafield Public Library on Tuesday, July 28, at 6:30 pm. We learned how to take advantage of record-low pricing on solar installations for your home, business, or farm by joining community members in this group purchasing opportunity. The general manager from the "group buy" installer, Arch Electric Inc. answered questions. Click on image on left for more information and links.

MREA partners with municipalities and community groups to coordinate neighborhood solar group buy programs in the City of Milwaukee and throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. A solar group buy is a tool for community members to use their collective buying power to save on the total cost of going solar. The advantage of a group buy is the power of volume purchasing, which can significantly reduce the upfront cost - the more participants, the greater the savings on materials.

In partnership with the City of Milwaukee's Milwaukee Shines program, solar group buys have been completed in several neighborhoods, including Washington Heights, Layton Boulevard West, Bayview and Riverwest. Since 2013, more than 68 home and business owners have installed new solar electric and solar hot water systems resulting in 238 kW of  clean, renewable energy. More info

Waukesha County Distributes Nearly $1.5 Million to Municipalities for Recycling
Twenty five municipalities will receive checks this spring totaling nearly $1.5 million as partners in the Waukesha County Recycling Program and for delivering their recyclables to the County Materials Recycling Facility (MRF).  The $1.5 million in dividend payments to municipalities is intended to provide tax relief by helping to offset their residential recycling collection costs.  The dividends vary for each participating municipality based on the individual program costs, tons of recyclables and recycling rate.
