Robe Offerings (Pha Pa Ceremony) (26 Oct 14, Sun)

posted 2 Oct 2014, 21:51 by Wat Palelai   [ updated 10 Nov 2014, 05:52 by meek freak ]

The Kathina ceremony is held once a year after the conclusion of the Vassa period to offer robes to the Maha Sangha. Traditionally, the Kathina festival starts from the day after Devo Day and continues for the whole month.  For a Kathina celebration, the temple needs to have 5 monks to spend the rain retreat in the monastery.

This year because we have only 4 monks spending the rain retreat in Palelai, we will have Pha Pa ceremony instead.  The Resident monks have chosen Sunday, 26th October 2014 for the ceremony.  The Event Organiser (EO) for this event will be Ms Ow Soon Yang.

Donations for the purchase of 4 sets of robes and other requisites can be made at our administration office, from Mondays to Saturdays, 9am to 6pm.  An official receipt will be issued to the donors.

The Resident Monks and the Board of Management cordially invite you, your family and friends to join us in this meritorious occasion.

May the Triple Gems guide  you and your family always.
