Arahants' Hall

1 arahant hall

All visitors to the chedi complex will be greeted by an impressive hall housing images of an arahant of the Buddha’s era (Phra Sivali Arahat) and those of monks of our present era.

An arahant or a "worthy one" or "pure one", refers to a person whose mind is free of defilement, who has abandoned all ten of the fetters that bind the mind to the cycle of rebirth, whose heart is free of mental effluents, and who is thus not destined for further rebirth.

These images of monks and meditation masters remind visitors of what can be attained through diligent practice and contemplation. This reminder is particularly apt for visitors who are on their way to the meditation hall in level 3.

The monks featured in this hall are:
-    Phra Sivali Arahat,
-    Somdet Toh,
-    Luan Phuu Thuad,
-    Phra Ajaan Sao Kantasilo Maha Thera, and
-    Phra Ajaan Mun Bhuridatta Maha Thera.
