Dear United Way Supporter, Thank you for your support of the Watertown Area United Way over the years. Without commitment like yours, we wouldn’t be able to support the agencies that provide such critical services to our community.

I am writing to let you know that effective July 1, 2020, the Watertown Area United Way will be merging with the United Way of Jefferson & North Walworth Counties, which is based in Fort Atkinson. This has not been a hasty decision, as our board has been diligent in making sure that moving forward, the Watertown community will not be neglected or forgotten. There is so much need in our community, and we have taken our responsibility to help seriously, and we want to see it grow and continue in the future. As a valued donor, we want to make sure that you are aware of the changes, and hope that you will feel comfortable continuing to support the United Way and the work it continues to do in our community.

Starting July 1, all 2021 donations and allocations will be handled by the Executive Director of the United Way of Jefferson & North Walworth Counties, Megan Hartwick. I have included her contact information below.

We see this merger as a benefit to both our agencies and our donors. The United Way of Jefferson & North Walworth Counties is a larger United Way chapter, with a large overlap in service area to the existing Watertown Area United Way. Many of our Watertown agencies are already receiving funding from and are familiar with their chapter, so the transition should be smooth. A larger organization means more resources to provide a solid and more visible presence in the Watertown area, which we hope will strengthen the agencies that service our community even more.

You may receive a brochure mailing with 2021 donation information in early November. This will be coming from the United Way of Jefferson and North Walworth Counties, and will be your new method for making donations to the United Way that covers the Watertown area.

If you have any questions about the transition, please do not hesitate to reach out and contact either myself, or the Executive Director of the United Way of Jefferson & North Walworth Counties. We want this transition to be easy and comfortable for you as our valued community donor.

Thank you for your continued commitment to the United Way and our Watertown area community.

Sincerely,

Chris VanGundy                                             Megan Hartwick
