Guided Elora Gorge white water canoe trips
Starting in June 2014, Nick Wagner is offering to assist canoe paddlers who already have basic white water skills to gain greater confidence through either:
1. Joining Nick in his tandem canoe for one-on-one white-water skill review at the top of Elora Gorge. After practicing the necessary basics in the pool below the Tooth of Time, you will continue down the Gorge section by section, pulling into eddies to discuss each section beforehand through until the take-out at the low bridge.
2. Paddling along with Nick in your own tandem or solo canoe, Nick will accompany in his solo canoe. You will review paddle strokes in the pool below the Tooth of Time. You will descend the Gorge in sections, pull into eddies to discuss each section before heading into it.
Nick is prepared to help with a rescue in the event of dumping. He has a helmet for anyone wishing to paddle with him. He might be prepared to lend his tandem canoe to two paddlers, and accompany them in his solo canoe.
Trips will depend on water levels and will proceed only when water temperatures don't necessitate wearing a wetsuit.
Participants must be Club members, and must be able to kneel in the canoe for about 1 hour.
If interested, email Nick Wagner, nickwagner@bell.net.

WWCC Kayak Courses
Saturday, June 16, 2012
Introduction to moving water kayaking. A 4-hour kayak class on Saturday morning.

Sunday, June 17, 2012
Moving water kayak skill development. Another 4-hour moving water course that requires at a minimum some previous moving water instruction such as the June 16th class.
If you have taken a moving water course with our instructor Michel Lessard, this course would be appropriate, and you might also consider using the 16th as a refresher.
Both courses will be on the Grand between Cambridge and Paris. If you have paddled that section before and found yourself running up onto rocks in the shallow parts, then Michel can help develop your water reading skills. Water reading makes going down the Grand far more interesting and far more enjoyable at summer low-water level or at higher / after-rain levels.
If you are interested, please contact donmcmurtry@gmail.com as quickly as possible.
