Welcome to Dr. Wasif Afzal's Home Page!
Mälardalen Univesity, Västerås, Sweden where I was a postdoctoral research fellow between 2013 to 2016. Here I am part of the software testing laboratory. I am also an approved PhD supervisor for the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. Before I was also an Assistant Professor in Software Engineering at Bahria University, Islamabad, Pakistan and a PhD student at the School of Computing, Blekinge Institute of Technology, Karlskrona, Sweden.
I completed my PhD in Software Engineering from Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden in May 2011 under the supervision of Professor Dr. Richard Torkar and Professor Dr. Robert Feldt. Professor Dr. Claes Wohlin was my internal examiner while Professor Dr. Martin Shepperd (Brunel University) was my main opponent. The external examination committee of my PhD thesis was comprised of Professor Dr. Lionel Briand (University of Luxembourg), Dr. Phil McMinn (University of Sheffield) and Dr. Carina Andersson (ABB, Sweden). I was part of the research group SERL. A short summary of my PhD work was also published in KvalitetsMagasinet.
I like to do empirical research within software engineering in general and within software verification and validation in particular. Some keywords that describe my interests are (not exhaustive): prediction and estimation in software engineering, application of artificial intelligence techniques in software engineering (including search-based software engineering), decision-making based on software analytics, software testing and quality, software metrics and evidential assessment of software engineering literature. Here is my Google Scholar profile.
