PTA Reflections

PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home. Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the 2018-2019 theme: Heroes Around Me. Choosing from one or all of the following arts categories: Dance, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.

Entries are due at the Washington school office on January 15th, 2019. Qualified entries will be advanced for state-level judging. In the spring North Dakota PTA will hold a Reflections Celebration Party locally to honor all state-level participants and winners. First-place entries from each category/division will then be advanced to National PTA for judging. National awards may include paid trips to the 2018 National PTA convention in June, scholarships, medallions and more. Start working on your entries today!

- Each entry needs to be accompanied by a signed and completed STUDENT ENTRY FORM.

- All OFFICIAL RULES Page 1 & Page 2 need to be followed.

- Families can support their children’s participation by creating time and space for students to work on their entries, providing encouragement and needed materials.

- Entries should represent students’ unique creativity. Adults are welcome to encourage students but are asked not to assist in any way with their interpretation of the theme or artistic expression.

- Try to participate in not just one, but two or more arts categories! It can be as fun and easy as snapping a photo, writing a short poem/essay or drawing a picture.

- Judging will be based on INTERPRETATION (20 points) -- How closely the piece relates to the theme, based on the artwork itself and the artist statement; CREATIVITY (10 points) -- How creative and original the piece is in its conception of the theme and its presentation; and TECHNIQUE (10 points): The level of skill demonstrated in the basic principles/techniques of the arts area.
