Jay Moran from Canute offered to organise the team this year but could not raise the required amount of players, despite his best efforts. There were issues with gaining confirmation of available players, a change of date for this competition, some players being on holiday and many were committed to representing other leagues such as Widnes. This can be reviewed at the 2017 AGM with the hope of the preparations taking place sooner next time and being communicated to all eligible players.
This year we had a slightly weaker team than 2014 and the results reflected this..
First up were Widnes & Runcorn, winners of this tournament for the past 4 years. This pedigree told and we struggled to get close in all but the 56+ Men's where we lost 20-21 in the third. Match score 9-0 defeat.
Second match was against Crewe. We won 40+ Men's, 56+ Ladies and 56+ Mixed [21-7, 21-7] but this was not enough and we lost 6-3.
Third match was against Wirral; this proved to be as tough as the first match with only the 56+ pairings taking rubbers to 3 games. Another 9-0 defeat.
Our final game was against Chester. This time strong performances from our 40+ pairings helped us achieve our best result, a 5-4 defeat.
A big thank you to all players who turned out, especially those who played at short notice.

This year we had a stronger team than 2013 and felt confident of improving on our results.
First up were Crewe. There were many close games with 4 of the 9 rubbers going to 3 games. We weren't to know it at the time but one of the first games [40+ men's] turned out to be decisive as we won a nail-biting 3rd 15-14 - a remarkable effort after losing 15-3 in the second. This contributed to our 5-4 win and off to a good start.
Second match was against Chester. Despite valiant efforts, games were not so close and we went down 5-4.
Third match was against Widnes, winners for the last few years and the team that inflicted our worst defeat in 2013 [8-1]. As testimony to the improved strength of the team, we picked up three rubbers this year, including a '15-14 in the third' win in the 48+ mixed. So, a 6-3 defeat.
Our final game was against Wirral. We were on our way towards a win but court time ran out and we will never know for sure.
The inability to complete all games means that the final league positions could not be calculated. In all likelihood, though, we would have won two matches, a further improvement on the previous two years.
All players played their part but a special mention to Yvonne Balfour and Yvonne Lowe who won all of their ladies doubles.
A big thank you to all players who turned out.

Bolstered by representation from more clubs, the team quickly won some of the first games in the match against Wirral and immediately bettered last year's tally for the whole day! Results went against us later on and we lost 6-3.
Next up were Crewe. Oddly enough, there were not many close games in this match apart from a nail-biting 21-20 win by Pete & Joe to, ultimately, give us a 5-4 victory - Warrington's first ever!!
Then came the might of Widnes & Runcorn. they proved to be far to strong for all but Pete & Joe and we lost 8-1.
Finally, we were up against Chester. Games were much closer in this match but the last one eluded us and we lost 5-4.
All players played their part but a special mention to Pete & Joe who won all four of their men's doubles.
Overall, we came 4th out of 5 leagues - a big improvement on last year. A big thank you to all players who turned out.

14 Members of Vida BC represented the Warrington League in the 2012 Cheshire Masters inter-league tournament, the Len Knight Trophy. The competition is split into three age-categories for players aged 40+ who then play a series of matches against other leagues in Cheshire.
This was the first time that Warrington League have entered a team and the players, whilst enjoying themselves, found it tough going. It turned out that the team peaked too early when going down to an 8 - 1 defeat [Wirral] for all the other matches were lost 9 - 0 [Crewe, Chester, Widnes]. However, as this was the first time of playing, things can only go up from here and it is hoped to generate more interest during 2013.
