Branch CD
Rinn Mhic Giolla Rua CCEs CD, 'Tús Maith' has 13 tracks

We are extremely proud of our CD and the talent that exists within the Branch. The following is an extract from a review of our Branch CD taken from the ‘Irish Music’ Magazine
RINN MHIC GIOllA RUA CCE,
Tus Maith - A Selection of
Traditional Irish Music
Own label
13 tracks, duration 42.21

This new CD, "Tús Maith", is the first recording of the juniors from Comhaltas Ceoltoírí Eireann’s Rinn Mhic Giolla Rua Branch, Warrenpoint, Co Down; it is the happy outcome of what happens when the old dictum, "Mol an Óige agus
Tiocfaidh siad”, is applied. Praise and encouragement is a great help in getting youngsters to give of their best, and that is evident in this recording. And who gives them the support and backing? The parents, tutors and
members of the community who form the local committee that make it all possible, that's who, and they deserve great credit for bringing out this excellent CD.

The recording does exactly what it says on the cover, the children deliver a selection of Irish traditional music: reels, jigs, polkas, a hornpipe, a slow air
and a waltz.

From the time Rinn Mhic Giolla Rua CCE was founded in 1975, its members have been promoting traditional music throughout the south Down area; weekly classes at St Mark’s High School cater for more than one hundred boys and girls, where tutors provide lessons in flute, fiddle, whistle, accordeon, banjo, mandolin, guitar, bodhran, and singing.

The branch has three groups and three ceili bands! Listening to this CD it's hard to believe that one is hearing children from seven and eight up through the teens; they have indeed been well taught, and this professional recording is a testament to the excellent tutoring they have received. And I can't finish
without mentioning the outstanding work done in producing the beautifully
illustrated booklet that comes with the CD. Not only are there group pictures of aII the kids and their adult helpers, there’s a photo of each child heard on the CD. Want to know how this sort of thing should be done? Check
out this CD’
