Warped Frets is an ongoing musical exploration of bluegrass, old time and traditional musical genres and styles typically involving stringed instruments in solo, duo and group ensembles. Operating in conjunction with my radio show at Bowling Green State University's community radio station, WBGU 88.1 FM Fridays from 6pm to 8pm Eastern, I seek to foster a community dedicated to the study and review of American music forms and their intertwining qualities despite differences in instrumentation, genre and vintage. I'm also addicted to acquiring new stringed instruments, as well as staring at photos of ones I know I can't have, so some of my love for mandolins, banjos, guitars and all things stringed certainly finds space here. I hope this site will become a small beacon of information about bluegrass and old time music, featuring CD reviews, interviews, newspaper features and music blogs by me and others in the industry.
