This site collects some resources on warning information in EHRs.

Warning information could consist of known or suspected individual risks for the patient, not apparent on general clinical assessments. Warning information could generate alerts to change a planned action in order to avoid the health care causing harm to the patient. An alert system should have a carefully designed alert philosophy to reduce the alert fatigue. To reduce the alert fatigue the signals need to be as few as possible, differentiated in more and less severe, generated with timing, of all relevant types to the context, and suggesting alternative action.
