Stage and Screen musical evening – not to be missed!

posted 5 Jul 2019, 12:29 by Amanda Williams

“Stage and Screen” is the title of the Warminster Philharmonic Orchestra’s summer concert this year on Saturday July 13th at 7.30pm to be held at Warminster School, in the new purpose built Thomas Arnold Hall, Church Street, Warminster.

You will recognise every single piece from the evening’s repertoire; waltzing your way through Sleeping Beauty, slumbering under the stars and over the rainbow with Luke Willmore’s Love2Sing choir, clicking your castanets to Carmen, getting your marionettes ready to save the day with the Thunderbirds whilst being seduced by Gabriel’s oboe, completing the Mission Impossible whilst being An American in Paris care of Gershwin!

Amanda Williams, founder and conductor of the orchestra comments Classical music should be fun and accessible to everybody. Firstly, we especially wish to reach out to non-classical concert goers and young people. Classical music can seem daunting and too serious for some, as Warminster’s community orchestra for local people, we aim to make music approachable and enjoyable to all. We continually welcome musicians of all ages and skill to come and have a go in an informal, social atmosphere.”

This is the orchestra’s 29th concert since the group’s formation in 2004, proudly boasting a sum of over £30,000 donated to local charities. This concert will be no different with Dorothy House Hospice benefiting from the ticket sales, refreshments and raffle monies raised during the evening. The orchestra, the Love2Sing choir and Dorothy House Hospice would really appreciate your support on the evening and look forward to sharing a Pimms with you!

The Warminster Philharmonic Orchestra are keen to support people who can’t easily leave the home, offering a free ticket to anyone who is accompanying a client (in a caring capacity), including nursing homes. To arrange, please call Amanda Williams 01985 216376.
