About Me
Karen (Rogers) Porter is a lifelong choir enthusiast. She has sung in various ward choirs beginning at the age of 10 and has sung in BYU Women's Chorus, Valparaiso Singers (Menlo Park, CA), Portland Mormon Choir, Cantico Singers and Portland State University Chamber Choir. She has served as ward choir director, primary music director, and ward choir accompanist too many times to count. She is currently the Artistic Director of Cantico Singers. and Choral Program Director at Sherwood Voices for the Performing Arts. Karen holds a M.M. degree in Choral Conducting from Portland State University. She also has a M.M. degree in Piano Performance from Brigham Young University, where she also studied choral conducting (with Ronald Staheli) and the Kodaly method. She resides in the Portland, Oregon area with her husband, teenage children, and their giant dog Dutch.
