Paske Hut

Upper Wairau Valley
 
  Friday - Sunday 3-5 March 2017 

(Moderate)

Friday, cross the Rainbow River then a steady mostly flat walk beside the Paske River to the 6-bunk hut, $5 hut ticket, taking 6-7 hours. Saturday climb Mt Paske 2216m, about 7 hours return, or ascend Paske Saddle 1796m.

Big Beach Clean Up

Help with this DOC community event picking up rubbish from the coastline near Richmond, which may only take two hours. Bring gumboots and garden gloves. If there is wet weather the alternative date is Sunday 5 March.

In the Howard Valley follow an old miners’ track above Louis Creek to a historic hut located in a small forest clearing. Carry on to a good lookout on the Porika 4WD Road taking about 3 hours. Return the same way.

Mt Arthur

From Flora carpark follow a well graded track to Mt Arthur Hut then steadily climb a poled route to the summit at 1795m taking 3½-4 hours. Return the same way.

From the Baton Valley Road (off the Motueka River West Bank Road) go up the historic Baton Valley Track to Flanagans Hut (8-bunks, $5 hut ticket), taking about 6 hours. Return the same way.
