Marlborough Sounds

Follow a good easy track from Moetapu Bay north of Linkwater to ascend this 474m hill taking about 1½ hours. Good views of Pelorus Sound.

Motueka Sandspit

An easy stroll along the Motueka shoreline from the saltwater baths with time for a café stop afterwards.

Sylvester Hut, Cobb Valley
Kahurangi National Park
 Saturday & Sunday 20-21 August 2016 

From the Cobb Dam follow a wide track zigzagging up through beech forest to the open tops and to Sylvester Hut (12-bunks, $15 hut ticket) taking 2 hours.

Then explore Lake Sylvester and Iron Hill depending on the snow.

If the snow conditions are unfavourable, the alternative is Lakehead Hut in Nelson Lakes National Park.

Rainbow Ridge & Mt McRae 
St Arnaud Range

From the Rainbow ski field ascend the St Arnaud Range then follow the ridge line along to Mt McRae at 1878m.

Depending on the snow conditions bring snow shoes if you have them. Transport up ski field road $20 if needed.

Dew Lakes
Bryant Range

From the Matai Dam ascend about 800m to Dew Lakes via the Rush Pool. Return the same way. A rugged track in places. About 5-6 hours return.
