Robin Hobbes, Chairman of the Wagner Society Manchester writes,

Hello and welcome to the Manchester Wagner Society web site. We are a long lived society, having been in existence for sixty years, meeting regularly in the centre of Manchester.

We’re a friendly bunch who like to share our interest and enthusiasm for
Wagner and his works with each other. This includes talks, study days and the occasional social gathering. We are always pleased to see new faces (old “returning” faces as well, of course!). There is no need to let us know if you are coming - just show up at the Friends' Meeting House (our regular venue) and there will be someone to greet you and help you settle into what, hopefully, will be an enjoyable and stimulating evening. We also have three Study Days per year at the Anthony Burgess Centre

We welcome Lizzie and Martin Graham to the Society on 9th April. I will be interviewing them about their experience of creating and developing the Longborough Festival. It will be fascinating, so I hope you will be able to join us.

The next  Study Day will be held on May 19th led by Rachel Nicholls, who is singing Brunnhilde in the
performance of the Ring in June, conducted by Sir Mark Elder. Rachel will be talking about singing Wagnerian roles and she will conduct a master class on the Wesendonck Leider with her student Charlotte Collier. Rachel Nicholls is one of the most exciting interpreters of Wagnerian roles among contemporary performers.

You can find out more about the Society by contacting the secretary: elaine burrows <eb20111@hotmail.co.uk>.
