Career and Technical Education Administrative Internship Program 

The internship training program is a project involving the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), WACTA~Washington Association of Career & Technical Administrators, Central Washington University (CWU), and local school districts. The internship program is a 12-credit program offered through CWU. The applicant or their district must pay for the credits when enrolling in the program.

Program Details

  1. The intern or their district has the option to pay CWU for university graduate credit (approximately $50.00/credit). The intern’s district pays the OSPI Contractor (RLEnterprises) $750.00 for services provided. The intern must become a member of WACTA at the intern’s or district’s expense. The intern or their district will pay travel expenses of the intern while participating in the program.
  2. Interns will not be enrolled without approval by, and commitment from the employing district. The intent of the training is to support and strengthen career and technical education services in the intern’s local school district.
  3. OSPI provides project direction and will conduct a minimum of six seminars, in addition to internship participation at the Intern Orientation at Summer Washington Association for Career and Technical Education (WA-ACTE) Conference, Fall WACTA Conference, and Spring WACTA Conference.
  4. The intern’s district will provide approximately 12-15 days of release time for the intern to attend training sessions and participate in required project activities. Most seminars begin on Fridays (starting at 2:00 p.m.) and continue all day Saturday.
  5. Each intern will develop at least one major career and technical education related project, which will be useful to his/her employing district and career and technical education in general.
  6. Interns will be expected to attend the WA-ACTE summer conference at the district’s or the intern’s expense. A half-day orientation session will be held at the conference to begin addressing seminar issues and program criteria.
  7. Persons who have strong potential to become a CTE director and/or a Skills Center Director and who meet the criteria on the enclosed application will be given priority in selection.

The application will be posted in January of each year.  Application is due early February.  Up to 18 candidates will be selected.  The application will be available for download below.
