Vugar Ismailov

I have been a research fellow at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan since 1999. For a period during 2007 and 2008, I was a visiting scientist at the Department of Mathematics, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.

My research focuses on the approximation and representation of multivariate functions using various classes of simple and practically useful functions. These include, in particular, ridge functions (plane waves), radial functions, feedforward neural networks, and linear superpositions. I am also interested in studying properties of sums of function algebras from an approximation-theoretic point of view.
