  • Welcome to the official website for Virginia Tech's 2011 Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) team. Our team will be competing in the 3rd Annual RoboBoats competition this June at the Founders Inn & Spa in Virginia Beach, VA. This website was designed to help our team manage the design, construction, and testing of our entry most efficiently.
  • Starting to look like something... This past week the team continued to construct the boat.  Both of the pontoons are nearly complete and only need to be checked for leaks and have a finish applied to them.  For testing, the team will be using a plywood deck instead of the carbon fiber deck in the pictures.  We still need to complete the u-channels that are being used to mount the deck to pontoons.  Once that is finished, the motors will be mounted to the boat and testing can begin hopefully within the next few weeks.

  • We're on target... So far so good. The boat is coming along nicely. The deck and the hull should be completed soon. By the 3rd week in February, we plan to have the boat completely constructed and all salvageable parts from last year's entry attached and in working order to begin testing.

  • We only have 101 days left... Although 101 days seems like a lot of time, it really is not.  We still have to finish construction, create concepts to complete mission tasks, decide on the best ones, construct them, and test them out.  Anything could happen, and we need to allot time for potential mishaps.
