The town of Windsor is 34 km away from the center of London is well known by being the place of the Windsor Castle, the largest inhabited castle of the world and one of the official residences of Queen Elizabeth II.

Windsor was the twelfth city of an itinerary made in United Kingdom in June 2008. The center of Windsor must be explored by foot. The castle is a short distance away from the train station.

The construction of the first fortification in Windsor was ordered by William, the Conqueror. Since then, the histories of the castle and the British royalty have followed together.

In the last decades of the 20th century, the Windsor Castle has become one of the main touristic attractions of the United Kingdom.

It is possible to visit the State Apartments of the castle as well as the great halls were ceremonies and banquets with the presence of the royal family are held.

Below on the right, an image of the Round Tower, located at the top of a hill in the central region of the castle. The ceremonies of the Changing of the Guard are as impressive as those of the Buckingham Palace.

The St. George's Chapel (images bellows), built during the 15th and 16th centuries, inside the walls of the castle, shares with the Westminster Abbey the distinction of being the pantheon of the British monarchs. Among many other kings, queens, princes and princesses, we can find there the resting places o Henry VIII and his third wife Jane Seymour.
